Just have to say. . .

We LOVE our puppy classes.  They have been such a good thing for us.  We found the certified trainer (from some link here) and she had classes.  We got in the December classes and can't believe how much it has helped.  Everyone should take these!

I am somewhat envious. I would love to take Oscar to puppy classes but can't because we don't meet the vaccine requirements. I am planning on doing at least one private session with a trainer in the new year to keep things on track. Even without classes, he is doing pretty well. The lady who delivers our raw meat was very impressed with his good manners today!

Have you checked all the classes in your area? The vax requirements can be different from class to class. I find the ones run by people who are really into dogs- either dog sport or dog shows tend to have less restrictive vax requirements. Although, it might be hard to find one who has both a training philosophy you like AND is easy on vax requirements. (I'm lucky that in my area, we have both). I also know trainers can be slim pickings in some areas. But thought I'd throw it out there are as possibility.

This is the trainer I am planning on taking my dog to. He doesn't do classes but does use his own dogs in the training sessions when needed. His philosophy seems very compassionate. We actually have plenty of options and all seem to have similar philosophies, even the local humane society offers clicker training, but the vax issue is the sticking point for all of them unfortunately,  the humane society seems the most lenient when it comes to older dogs, but not puppies though.

That's too bad.  Our trainer didn't have any requirements, just that we speak to our vet and make sure they were "fit for class".
