And honestly, I know more than one mom who has  been stuck in the car somewhere with sleeping kids and used one of the kids' diapers herself.  Not by putting it on of course.  wink1.gif  Hey, when you're desperate and have no options, you get resourceful!  I certainly wouldn't judge.

That's why the bblp is awesome. Fits right under the seat  to be ready to hand for whoever needs it.

This thread reminds me I want to get one of those camping pee tubes.

Is this a joke?  Urine's a fertilizer--organic all natural fertilizer even. http://www.howtodothings.com/home-garden/how-to-use-urine-as-a-fertilizer

Note: while the site says to dilute it, when someone HAS to pee and is peeing a ton, the urine is pretty dilute as it is. Especially once it filters through the plants and soil at the base of the tree before getting to the tree's roots. Plus, the reason to dilute is so the nitrogen won't harm the leaves--gotta work really really hard to pee on the leaves of a tree.

I've had to slip my then 5 or 6 year old one of their little brother's diapers to go in when we were out somewhere and they could not hold it.   Seems like a better solution that having to wash car seats and having a miserable wet child.  They were thankful for the solution and an end to their pain of holding it..

Before I had kids I used to babysit two girls, ages 3 and 6.  The six year old told me that when they traveled from Omaha, NE to Kansas City, MO (about 4 hours) her mom would make her wear a pull up.  I was pretty horrified at the thought, thinking why can't they just pull over?  Anyway, now I know ;) I have given my then 4 y.o. a diaper to use in the car when we were roadtripping from TX to MO.  But, I don't carry anything like that with me now that no one is in diapers anymore.  I'm embarrassed to admit this but one time we were at a store that would not allow customers to use the public restroom.  My oldest dd was newly potty trained and had to go poop.  We had walked to the store and I had wipes and a plastic bag in the bottom of the stroller but not a diaper.  I took her around the back of the store and let her poop on the grass, then cleaned it up with the wipes.  Not one of my stellar parenting moments, but it was either that or have her poop her pants and have to ride home like that in the stroller.  I was very pregnant with her sister and failed to check the stroller supplies before I left.

Yes, at least I thought I was funny.

I don't have an opinion on it either way.  Whatever works for ya, right?

But I did want to pipe in to add to the travel loo.  There are crystals that you can get that absorb pee (or vomit) so that you're not dealing with a liquid to get rid of, but rather a much less-spillable solid.  It's awesome!  For anyone who gets motion sickness, or for those back-of-the-van DIY toilets.  We use them for pukers on the ambulance, and they put them in the bedpans and commodes at the hospital.  They come in individual packs.

Eh, I've been through more than enough flaming "peeing on trees" discussions. I live in NYC, and our playgrounds are not the same situation as suburban playgrounds in terms of privacy, trees, lack of grass, number of people; and given where I live, I would not allow my children to pee on a playground tree; outside of a playground, they're either in landscaped parks or private property. Considering the OP was talking about a bus driver who carries around a pull up for a 7 year old, I imagine it's probably for use in an urban area where one couldn't do potty-in-the-car-trunk-or-pee-on-roadside-bushes. In this sort of situation, the pull up thing the OP described sounds feasible to me.

well i dont think i would carry a pullup around. i dont have that problem tho i have to force my dd 8 to pee when we are out. if i let her she will hold it the whole day we are out. the one i would worry about is my ds but boys are easy to have pee when out. waiting2bemommy ur still my hero superhero.gif superhero.gif  bow2.gif  bow2.gif  bow2.gif

I put my 6 yr old in a diaper last year when we were camping and she woke up wanting to pee. Instead of getting cold and waking up everyone she just put on the diaper and peed. It was awesome. Worked great the year before too when there was a big thunderstorm and she woke up again at night.

Not something I would do, but I can see the convenience of it.

Thankfully my 10 year old who has the bladder of a squirrel can run into a gas station bathroom alone now.  My 5 year old can practically go 18 hours without using the bathroom (obviously I discourage this!!!).  It's usually me that has the potty emergency so we all have to go in anyway :)

Umm I don't' carry pull ups around for my 2 and 3 (almost 4) year olds.. It just never occurred to me since they wouldn't put them on if I tried to get them to. Seriously, I tried to get my 2 year old to put them on at night because she had several night accidents (and i was tired of steam cleaning the mattress) and she absolutely refused. She kept taking the diaper off and crying, only way to get her to sleep was not to put a diaper on her. If we have a long drive usually we will pull over half way and luckily the bathrooms over here aren't that bad.

If I had kids that wouldn't mind I would probably keep on in the car but I doubt I would keep one actually on me (in my purse or stroller).

I never had my dd pee in a pull up so I can't imagine doing so for a seven year old.  If a bathroom is too nasty for her she just won't go, she will hold it in even if she has to go very badly and hasn't gone for hours.

You know...that's a BRILLIANT idea!!! In fact, I'm going to go out and buy a tiny bax of sposie pull-ups in the largest size (I dunno...bedwetting size?) and keep them in my minivan. Thank you for that awesome suggestion!!
