Anyone else use herbal teas and pill supplements pre-conception? Help!!!

I have an issue/concern that I need some help with from anyone that has been through a similar situation or know what to do.

So, I started using Traditional Medicinals Natural Herbal Tea (Female Toner) to help prepare my body for pregnancy (it supposidly strengthens uterus, etc.) by the herbs: Red Raspberry Leaf, Nettle Leaf, etc. started out doing the recommended 2 cups a day then went down to 1 cup a day (the box says 2-3 cups a day as necessary) and also have been using Pregnancy Prep by Vitanica, formulated by Dr. Tori Hudson. The directions say to take 2 capsules once or twice a day. I've been taking 2 pills twice a day (breakfast and dinner) as directed on the box.

I have noticed that my last 2 periods (since starting them) have been heavier (must be the herbs) and also...even worse...my LH surges (been doing First Response Ovulation test sticks for about 3 months now) have been spiking (getting the positive (2 dark lines) for more than the one day which tells you that you'll be ovulating in the next 24 to 48 hrs. I have been getting a positive OPK test for like 5 days in a row! It is freaking me out! I used to just get the one positive one and then I would ovulate the following day (I feel the mild side cramping from the egg being released, thus know when I ovulate) but since starting these supplements that are supposed to regulate and strengthen my cycles/uterus and help get my body healthier for conceiving and pregnancy, I feel like they are hendering my body! I just want my body to be best prepared for the next pregnancy and not all messed up! What should I do? I want to contact these companies and email them or call them to discuss and see what they recommend, but from experience of contacting companies, a lot of the time, they don't reply back, so it's a waste of time! But I knew someone on here would get back and reply to me.

Has ANYONE else had this same problem/experience? If so, what did you do? Keep using them? Stop them? I'm at a loss as to what to do here.

Thanks so much ladies!

Leanne

I don't know how much I can help, because those aren't exactly the same things I am using, and obviously they haven't worked for me, yet. But, I started drinking red raspberry tea two cycles ago, it shortened my cycle by 3 days, making it only 25 days, not good. I tried it again this cycle because I figured maybe I was just adjusting, but I added vitex and b6, 28 day cycle, spotted after ovulation, but still didn't feel it, and still no baby.
There is probably an adjustment period, more positive opks could mean you are getting a stronger o, what is in the pills you are taking? Do you have any problems with your cycle you are trying to fix or just trying for something that could help?

IMO, if you don't like what they're doing to your cycle, stop taking them :)

I'm not sure if a longer LH surge is a good thing or not, so I can't really comment on that. A heavier period may mean that your body is cleaning out your uterus better - a light period is generally no a good thing when TTC.

I would look at the herbs/supplements you're taking and ask yourself why you're taking each one. I started out taking a pre-conception multivitamin and drinking a tea called FertiliTea. I cut out the tea after two months, and instead started taking things for my specific issues - I wanted more CM so I took Evening Primrose Oil. I wanted a stronger ovulation, so I took soy isoflavones early in my cycle for 5 days. Go based on the things you want to fix/increase, and take what you need for that :)

Also, you might get more answers to this is you post to the One Thread :)
