I did something really dumb, I requested a chicken catalog

I saw another thread in here and somebody linked to Meyer Hatchery.  They're only about 15 miles away from my house so I figured I would get the catalog and start looking into breeds for when I'm ready to buy.  I've been reading over the catalog and I really want some chickens.   The Buff Orpinton, Buckeye, and Buff Brahmas are calling to me.  Why do I torment myself like this?!

Maybe if I leave the catalog on the table DH will start looking through it and fall in love too.  All I need is for him to get ambitious enough to build me a coop.

I am probably the guilty linker, lol.Aren't there so many neat looking chickens??? I love looking at peoples pics at BYC. I got hens for eggs, but there are some breeds I want just because they look neat!

Yes, you are. winky.gif

DH did find the catalog and went through it very thoroughly.  He liked 3 or 4 breeds other than the ones I chose and we agreed that everyone in the family should be able to pick whatever breed they liked.  He also said that there was no way he was going to get to a coop this year.   It's on the list for next spring.

I will warn you that it is addictive.  My mother started with just 2 breeds, and quickly that escalated into a full scale barn with about 10 breeds, most needing to be separated due to inter-breed fighting/issues.  She also now has goats, peacocks and swans.  I swear she would have a cow in there if it did not require daily milking!

So jealous! My husband grew up on a working farm and is totally anti chicken. It kills me!!

I found a place that let's you "rent" a coop with 4 chickens . The come and set it up and the come back after 2 or 4 weeks and break it down. I am tempted hoping he mightt change his mind......
