DS fell out of bed last night...not sure its still safe

DS is fine. BUT I'm worried now about Dh. When DS was a baby (0-8 months) I kept DS away from Dh in the bed (which made Dh more comfortable as well.) Starting around 9 or 10 months DS spent more time sleeping between us and up until last night would wonder between us,or in side car crib.

So DS was laying on Dh (he likes to kinda sit up and lean) Dh rolled over and lanched DS off the bed. DS landed Hands and knees, nose hit slightly, but was ok. He was a bit dioriented and upset, but ok.

Dh says he knew something was wrong when he rolled over but didn't think to what it was, but it seems to me as soon as he DS fell he knew because he yelled Oh my God, before DS even hit the ground or cried.

Does this mean Dh isn't safe to co sleep with DS?

We have another on the way and our plan was DS with Dh and new baby with me...no I'm worried it might not work.

DS is14 months old and only 2-3x during all of co sleeping has Dh ever tried to smack DS in his sleep (early on) and he admits usually he knows exactly where DS is.

Personally I would keep ds on my side if I were you.  That is what we did with ds until last year when ds was 2.5y.  I just felt more comfortable as did dh as he is dead to the world when he sleeps (I wake at the slightest change)

i think this might help your dh be more "aware" of your ds being close to/on him.

at the very beginning, my dh started to roll over our ds two or three times. ds1 would squeak, which would wake up dh, and all was well. now, dh is so aware of ds being there, he wakes up before i do when ds1 needs something. and it was a learned thing for him. ds2 is in our bed also, and he has SCREAMED (when i couldnt find paci, open shirt fast enough, etc) and dh didnt budge.

of course, if you dont feel safe having your ds with your dh, dont keep waiting for him to be more aware. i was never worried, but im very relaxed about things like this
