i want to make my daughter a doll with hair like this, but i have to wonder what this hair will look like even a year down the road? is it worth it to make a doll with this kind of hair, or will i regret it?

I don't see anything wrong with that hair at all.  The doll in my profile pick is 5 years old, and with much love her hair is still fine.
