Reading my test

I took a test first thing this morning.  I am on day 24 of my 27 day cycle.

I took it and saw nothing.  Checked it 20 minutes later, still didn't see anything.

Then about three hours later when I went to throw it out I could see the FAINTEST of lines.  It's faint enough that I only see it if I hold it a certain way.

I know they say it has to appear within a few minutes ....but...?

Has this happened to anyone and it been negative?  Has this happened to anyone and it been positive?

They don't have those dollar treet tests here in canada so it's $10 to test so I want to wait a couple more days to try again.

Kind of excited and curious.

Tks!

From what I understand, if it isn't within the window of the test (I think most are ten minutes)  you are meant to completely disregard what it says later.  I'd probably wait a few days and test again despite the cost.  Its possible you are pregnant and JUST so, but I wouldn't get too exited yet til you have a test that can pop up within the test window.

This has happened MANY, MANY, MANY times to me. It's an evap, especially if you have to hold it a certain way. But it doesn't mean you are out. Do you know for sure when you O'd?

No, I don't know.  We were actually planning to start trying next month.  This past month we weren't too careful but did avoid for 2 or 3 days around when we figured the O would be.

I don't chart and have never figured out my CM before.  It seems to me like I have CM for about a week!

Next month we will be more actively trying.

Or maybe that wasn't an evap line and we are already good to go!  Who knows!

It sounds like an evaporation line to me. I would wait until you miss your period to test again. I know how hard it is though! I probably took a dozen tests within the last week. lol.

I haven't seen them there.  Where are you located?

Yes, this has sort of happened to me...I got a very faint positive line within the 10 minute timeframe which got darker after a few hours to dry-but it was definitely positive within the timeframe the test gave. I wouldn't trust a line that appears after the recommended timeframe; it's more than likely an evap line.

At some dollar stores you have to ask them if they have them. Sometimes they keep them behind the counter.

This happened to me.  The first pregnancy test I ever took looked negative at first, but when I looked at it again several hours later there was a very faint line.  I dismissed it as an evap - which may very well be what it was - but got a BFP when I tested again a few days later.  fingersx.gif for you!

This is exactly what happened to me!

I figured I had a real positive that I dismissed as an evap, but I know lots of mamas who get true evaps outside the time limit, so I wouldn't get too excited till you see a line within the time frame.

So I went to Dollarama and they do have Pregnancy tests and OPKs!

So I bought some and tried again this morning.  I had be holding so I really needed to pee!

At first nothing, after about 10 minutes there is a light pink line.  Faint but not as faint as yesterday's First Response test.

So, I am thinking that it is early but it might be a yes!

I'll keep you posted.  Thanks so much everyone.

If the line is pink, I'd say it's a BFP.  Congrats, mama!  joy.gif

As PP said, with the first test, if the line showed up after 10 minutes, ignore it. Whenever you take a pregnancy test, set a timer for 10 minutes, check the test at the 10 minute mark, then throw it away! And don't dig it back out of the trash :)

For the second test - if the line looks pink and showed up in 10 minutes or less, that's a BFP! Congrats!

Thanks, it doesn't really seem real yet. I actually keep forgetting that I am most likely PG.   I really didn't expect this to happen so quickly.

I will test again Tuesday and hopefully get a nice solid line.

We have a 3 1/2 year old and it took us a long time to feel ready for #2.  It also took us about 6 months to conceive her so this suprises me.

I wish all you TTCers the very best.
