we just got some Bioglan kids smart, has anyone used this brand before? opinions?

I don't know that kind, our son takes Nordic Naturals. We are really happy with this brand and take the same ourselves.  No fishy after taste/burps.

I have heard of the nordic naturals and was going to get those but my MIL got us these and some vit D as a stocking stuffer for the kids. I just wanted to check on them first and make sure they were an OK brand. I couldnt find any reviews with a google search and was hoping someone here had heard pros or cons about them.

Do you know the ratio of Omega 3's 6's and 9's for this?  Just curious, thanks.

hmm not sure. it just says on the box it has omega 3 .2g and has a total of 500 mg of fish oil EPA is 28mg and DHA is 133mg.

oh and it also says the fish oil is tuna...is that bad?

I have read that fish oil is not such a great idea health-wise; see this article: http://thehealthyskeptic.org/when-it-comes-to-fish-oil-more-is-not-better. Feed your family cold water fatty fish instead.

Cod liver oil is the best way to get your Omega 3's, especially the fermented kind. The Weston Price Foundation (and many others) recommend Blue Ice because it doesn't have synthetic vitamins A and D added to it like other brands, and it is suggested to take butter oil at the same time because they act synergistically (you need to make sure you have enough K2 in order for your body to use the Vitamin D). We get the one from Green Pasture Company: http://www.greenpasture.org/retail/?t=products&a=line&i=fermented-cod-liver-oil. It's expensive and it tastes awful, just to warn you (I encapsulate mine for the kids or they won't take it).

I also personally wouldn't take tuna oil because of the fact that the tuna population has been fished to the point of being endangered.

thank you for the article. It seems like it's getting so hard to keep up with what's good for you to take and what is a health risk! I kinda knew that tuna was a no-no but like I said my MIL bought these for the kids so I figured i'd at least use this bottle up and then next time buy the Nordic Naturals.

So what is considered cold water fatty fish?

Mackerel, herring, salmon and sardines are good choices because unlike tuna (which is also a cold water fatty fish) they tend to have a lot less mercury in them, being lower on the food chain.

My DD loves sardines in water without salt. They're cheap and safe. You can also use krill oil which is the lowest on the food chain. I use blue ice fermented cod liver oil occasionally and the kids actually like the taste.
