Flu in the house - suggestions for keeping everyone else healthy?

DD has a confirmed case of Influenza A.

I'm starting her on oscillococcinum (Oscillo), giving her sodium ascorbate to bowel tolerance, vitamin D3 drops, bone broth etc...
 and keeping her isolated.

Is there anything I should be doing for the rest of the family to try to keep us from getting it?  Preemptive Oscillo?  I'll make sure to increase our Vit C and D.  Any other thoughts?

We did high dose D3 for all of us when hubby had flu last season. None of us came down with it. Could have been luck? I don't know.

How much D3 did you do and for how many days?  We're dealing with a cold/flu virus now.

I'd say oscillo for everyone in the house for sure.  once a day for three days is what I'd consider.

I don't generally increase D until the body is fighting something-but we finally have decent D levels so we're not operating from a deficiency.

Vitamin A is increased as well if I start seeing symptoms.  Otherwise just cell salts and homeopathy over here.

Well, children over two can take 2000 IU per day (of D3 form) daily safely and an adult can take up to 10,000 IU per day. You don't have do that daily though. It's an average. An adult could take say 65000 IU once a week for example regularly. So I dosed high (can't remember how high) but the average for the week (for us) and over a little longer than that (for hubby) wasn't over those amounts. In actuality it takes a long time to build up toxic levels of D and for a one time toxic dose....well, you couldn't buy that much. Still, we had healthy D and I wanted to stay within those guidelines. I just preloaded the maximum for the week for three days for each of us.

This article suggests treating flu with 2000 IU per kg. I did not do that high of a dose for us. We did have healthy levels though going into this. http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/51913.php

If I recall I did something like 30,000 IU per day for hubby for three days and then lower doses for me (I stayed under that 10,000 per day but dosed it over 3 days for myself) and much lower (like 4000 IU...I can't remember) for the kids over a three day period.

Everyone should wash their hands - a lot.  And make sure not to share drinks or utensils with your daughter.  Get lots of sleep.  And hope to get lucky!
