Vaccinations and TANF

Thread Starter

I am a soon to be single mother. I am going to apply for TANF so that I can get health coverage.

I just looked up the rules for TANF and on this site: http://www.tanf.us/kentucky.html

it says:

Quote:
Children under age 5 must be current with childhood immunizations and children age 6 to 18 must attend school and parents or caretakers must participate in school conferences.

Can they really make me immunize my children? Would a religious exemption work in this matter?

I know that public schools, Medicaid, and WIC do NOT require immunizations if you have an exemption, does that extend to TANF? Does everything government run have an exemption or can they make different rules for different programs? Of course they aren't going to advertise the exemptions if they have them, just wondering if anyone has any info.

I so far haven't found anything for KY, but I did find the code for GA.  Since this is a federal program, I would think the same rules apply.

The last time this came up the suggestion was to submit the state's school exemption.
