What's your germ prevention protocol when your toddler has been sick?

My daughter has a nasty cold.  (Despite ALL of our efforts to be super healthy and prevent such things...errrgh).  Anyway, she is of course coughing and sneezing on everything.  She's having a hard time breathing through her nose and so she's drooling a little but and her nose is drippy (clear snot).  She grabs all kinds of things, like remote controls, a pair of glasses, the cordless phone, etc with wet hands that have been in her mouth or rubbing her little wet nose.

I am pregnant and I do not want to get sick...but I feel like our house is just covered in germs.  I can't just follow her around with a disinfecting wipe all day long.  I mean, she touches EVERYTHING!  Mine and DH's throats are already feeling a little raw.  We're REALLY like to keep the germs at bay.  Kind of hard when I'm rocking her and comforting her and being sneezed on, but I can try, right?

What's your germ minimizing protocol when someone in the family's been sick?

We wash our hands after wiping noses, etc... but that is about it. It is virtually impossible to keep a young child from spreading germs all the house. Like you said, they touch everything, and sneeze, wipe their noses all over you! DH and I are always catching something from one child or another, they are like a petri dish of germs. You can try boosting your own immune system. It gets even more interesting when there is a new baby to sneeze all over as well. Good luck.
