Wool...worth the price?

Wool covers are so expensive but everywhere I read raves about them...

experiences??

I was looking at these:

also how many wool covers would be good for a stash? I have an assortment of cloth from my son but we started him at 16 months and then he was fully potty trained by 25 months. So  i'm getting newborn/infant stuff now to add to the stash.

I also always remember having leakage problems at night so we almost always did sposies at night and i'm wondering if wool would help solve that problem?

If you are open to using upcycled wool, the cost is pretty reasonable:

I've gotten some really cute longies from CC Baby and White Elephants—haven't put them to use yet, as I'm still waiting on the baby :P

you can gt pretty reasonable priced wool at diaperswappers.  honestly you really only need 2.  but some people get addicted to all the pretty colors.  i learned to knit so I can make my own stuff but honestly some of the yarn is pretty pricey too.  i can totally understand why some of those longies are $60+ .

ive used both of these and loved them. so any cover with similar style should be ok,   they were fun to koolaid dye too

I second looking on diaperswappers for those covers. I just bought one off of amazon for cheaper. However, I do not find it a great diaper for fat babies. It is bulletproof and works great, but is a wee bit too tight on my big fat 6 week old.

Yes! We love wool. The kisssaluvs is super soft. I really love it. Bumby has great prices for interlock wool as well. We use wool full time and I'm so glad. 2-3 pieces is plenty although we have way more then that. I have 4 soakers and about 8 pairs of longies that she uses as pants.  No leaks with wool. I think you'll love it. I've bought a lot of used pieces at Diaper Swappers too. Good stuff!

I love wool not all wool is created equally though, so know what you're getting. For instance, we have a bunch of Kozy and hand knit. Love them, adorable, but cant withstand nighttime. For night we use babyology exclusively. We have 3 for night because they can take a day or two to dry between uses (and i just ordered a 4th). For daytime, i like an assortment, again depending on factors you might be able to use 1 pair of longies all day, or they may be soaked after 1 wear. Regardless i always suggest at least 2 of anything for when you need to wash.

At this time of year, DS wears longies even over pockets, just to keep him warm. Multi-purpose clothing.

I've tried Aristocrats, Little Beetle shorties, and upcycled cashmere longies.  My favorite by FAR is the Little Beetle merino wool shorties.  I got both of mine from Diaperswappers and they were great.  I'm thinking about trying the Little Beetle longies, too, for the new little one.

I've made my own wool longies from $4 cashmere thrift store sweaters using this tutorial: http://www.diaperswappers.com/forum/showthread.php?t=227639

they turned out great and were super easy and cheap to make.  my second pair only took 30 minutes or so- start to finish. this way i can have as much wool as i want, since its so cheap to make.  it works well to wash and dry the sweaters on hot/high so that they felt up a bit and get more waterproof...also then i'm not as worried about them accidentally going through the wash or dryer.  and lanolizing every now and then helps too.
