Swaddling a baby who can roll?

So I'm reading that a baby who can roll over shouldn't be swaddled? I guess this makes sense, but my almost 5 month old is still swaddled at night and for naps and she can definitely roll over. She has a habit of swinging her arms around while falling asleep and I just assumed I would keep swaddling her for . . . . well, kind of for an indefinite time, I guess I don't know what behaviors I was looking for to know she didn't need her swaddle anymore.

This was all brought up by the fact that I was about to purchase a woombie, because she can bust out of her velcro swaddlers and the miracle blanket has a tendency to unravel, which is terrifying and super dangerous (beware the miracle blanket!!!!). Apparently a woombie allows more upper body freedom and the danger of rolling over is higher. I know some moms here have sworn by the woombie - have you ever had your babes roll over in one?

Or would it really be safer to "wean" her from her swaddle at this point? Any moms BTDT? How did it work? How would I *know* if she was ready to sleep without it? Did your babes sleep as long without their swaddle?

Ah, so many questions. I'm open to any questions/comments/concerns/critiques!

Well, I'll be interested in replies! My 4 month DS is still swaddled for naps but not at night when we co-sleep. I try every week or 2 w/o swaddling but his flailing arms (or arm if I only swaddle one side) still wake him during naps. Would love suggestions too!!

I swaddled my last two, for a long time after they could sit up and even crawl. With the Miracle Blanket, we solved the unravelling problem with diaper pins. My kids would sometimes roll on their bellies while swaddled. It wasn't a problem, though, as far as I could see-- they would get extremely ticked off, lift their heads and SCREAM, and I would be instantly alerted to the situation. They had no trouble lifting their heads even while swaddled.

Cecilia is 8.5 months, still swaddled for all sleeps, and can certainly roll and crawl, and is still swaddled. We cosleep, and she does sometimes roll to her stomach at night and during naps, but she always turns her head to the side just fine, so I don't really worry about it. I think if I was leaving her by herself in a crib with no monitoring, and she was younger, I might worry a bit.
