Counting down the days until my next appointment on Monday. Still working on names. Maybe I feel more pressure since this is the last one that I need to find the perfect name.

Hope everyone is enjoying the holidays! I've been offline while we traveled to see family, and just now getting back home and into the groove of things. I had my 24week visit this morning. Baby girl is doing well as far as they can tell. I have to go back for a follow up u/s because they weren't able to get all the pictures they wanted during the first one. Not sure yet when that will be scheduled. Hard to believe the next visit will be at 28 weeks, in less than a month! According to the scales I gained, um, nearly 12lbs in 6 weeks. holy freaking cow! This only puts me 3lbs over my starting weight though, because I lost some there at first. But still, that's like 2lbs a week! I never actually gained with ds, so this is sort of a shock. The doctor told me not to worry too much about it though. I'm gonna have to get back to swimming on a regular basis after all the holiday mess is over. I haven't been in a couple of months. I feel hungry a LOT though, and still feel sick when I try to ignore it and not eat. I guess I need to be more diligent about making healthier choices when I go for snacks.
We still don't have a name for baby girl. dh isn't bothered by it, and won't discuss names with me *sigh* We sort of have two on the list, Brena and Evie, but can't seem to choose between them. Maybe we'll just have to wait until she's here to choose.

Brena and Evie and great names. As long as you have a short list like that, you are set. Wait until you hold her and you'll know who she is.
Just waiting for a blizzard to hit. It is suppose to hit around 9am. O's 2nd birthday party is scheduled for tomorrow so I'm waiting to find out who is actually going to make it here or not.

I'm partial to Evie ;) !
Happy New Year!
We are still a house full of sick- it's endless :( It started with me 1 week before Christmas but I 'merely' had diarhea...then Christmas eve Axel started throwing up...3 days later dh started...last night Evangeline started....
In the meantime, we've had fevers, congestion, coughing, sore throats, and exhaustion. Our nights have been fragmented, dh and I have been dealing with insomnia on top of it all- and for him tv is the only remedy, which keeps me up!
When will this end!?
ARG....
everything is well otherwise. I'm just loving being poked in akward places and feeling pretty 'bothered' by this little one. It's so wonderful. I'm reading 'The Natrual Pregnancy Book' by Aviva Jill Romm and it's so great- don't know how or why I haven't read it before (I devour pregnancy/birth/baby books) but it's also encouraging me to give this pregnancy and myself the attention it/I deserve. It's different than with my 1st or 2nd pregnancy- I'm distracted and busy, but part of the reason I love pregnancy is the rituals and focus I can spend inwardly.
Any New Year's Resolutions??

Hello all! My little Andy is a happy, contented little boy. I am wondering if he is going to be a calmer child than Jack. Jack was so busy and aggressive in the womb. This little one lets me know he is there, but not as aggressively as Jack. He likes to cradle in my pelvis, instead of the non-stop acrobatics that his big brother was always attempting.
I have no idea how much I have gained, but I have a feeling it's around 8 or 10lbs. I have an insatiable craving for oranges. Oranges and grapefruit, all day long. I am 23 weeks. I went on a bit of a shopping spree a few days before Christmas and bought some pretty clothes that were on sale. I am very happy to have pretty things to wear, and a long sleeved shirt for every day of the week now! :)
I am going nutso with nesting. I rearranged the whole house before Thanksgiving, and deep cleaned. Three days ago I started all over. The tree is down, the decorations are packed away, and I have reorganized the bathroom, laundry room, and kitchen. We are in the process of moving furniture around to put my sewing nook and our computers in DS's room, and move his toys into the living room (to replace my sewing nook) and his bed into our bedroom (to replace our computer desk). He sleeps in our bed anyhow, and his room was just being wasted. Now DH has an office where he can work on homework in peace. And I will have a sewing room! I don't mind sharing with my hubby, :) I just cannot help myself, I have this urge to clean and organize everything. I didn't get to do any of this with DS, so maybe I am making up for lost time, huh? I plan on starting to stock the freezer in Feb or March. Don't want to cook too early!

Happy New Year to you all! We have so much to look forward to in the coming year!
I am finally feeling better! And just in time for our big new years eve date! so happy!
Today I decided to announce this pregnancy on face book. It's nice to get some congratulations and love from our family and friends.
DP's mom and my sister-in-law have offered to throw a shower for me in feb. I never had one with my girls, so I'm pretty excited. I just got my plane tickets and can't wait to fly home and celebrate.
Hope everyone has a great new year's eve!

Thanks ladies! I am extra excited because I live on the west coast and everyone else lives on the east coast, so I don't get to see my family and friends I grew up with but MAYBE once a year. Plus I've had back luck with relationships and was a single Mom for 4 years (and in a really bad relationship with ExH for 6 years before that), so it's a nice celebration of a new beginning for me and my daughters to finally have a complete family.
Would you mind helping me out with something? If you're really bored in the next week or so, please take a look at my registry on Amazon and tell me if I've missed anything crucial. I feel like I should have more stuff in it, but I'm having a brain fart as to what. You can search for it with my name Deirdre Schafer.
Oh yeah.... I wanted to mention to you all, if you're looking for maternity jeans I just got these great skinny jeans at Old Navy the other day. They're really comfortable and were on sale for $15 (reg $34.50). I did have to get 4 sizes up from my pre-pregnancy size, but it's not about the number.... right?!

So, how'd it go? I'm dreading mine (next week) a little too. Too much holiday indulgence!!

Ok, I think I found it this time. I didn't realize it was a registry, not a wish list. Your link wasn't working for me, let me try posting this one: http://www.amazon.com/registry/baby/U2JEQNFS935J?_encoding=UTF8&reveal=all

Deirdre, after looking over your registry I'd like to point out a few things.
1) you have registered for two infant car seats - was that intentional?
2) the Kiddopotamus Snuzzler - go ask over in the family safety forums if you want to double check, but a quick search of the forums confirmed what I remember from Ds, which is (as one mama put it) "They wrap over the car seat straps, affecting the fit of the straps, and they can get in the way of the chest clip, keeping it from being at armpit level. Plus, having anything between baby and the car seat that didn't actually come in the box with the car seat can negatively affect the harness fit too. They say they are "safety-tested," but since there is actually no standard for testing such things, they could throw them against a wall and declare them "tested." No car seat manufacturer, Graco included, allows the use of after-market accessories like those." The car seat safety gurus in the Family Safety Forum know *much* more about this than I do, and I defer to them for all other questions. There are some really terrific and dedicated moms over there who will give you good advice.
3) Diapering, you have some prefolds that are marked "must have" but all your covers and accessories are "nice to have", a little thing but something to be aware of. Wetbags and covers are necessities, if you want to CD. People love to give diapers, and cloth is really catching on semi-mainstream. Don't hesitate to say you need the covers, because you do. And if you end up hating the covers that you get, or you end up switching to pockets or whatever, then the excess covers are easily sold in a FSOT here on Mothering, Diaperswappers, or TheBabyWearer. I even see them on the local craigslist occasionally.
4) Do you need cosleeper linens or extra crib linens?
5) Do you need any bath items? Even if you don't, you are having a shower and people love to give baby bath stuff and if you want phthalate free or organic baby wash, I would register for some.
6) Do you have a nursing support pillow, like a My Brest Friend or Boppy? Register for extra covers too, they are awful handy!
7) Do you have a ring sling, wrap, pouch or mei tai? I've heard some people don't like the Ergo, even with the newborn insert, right away. They prefer something else for the squishy newborn phase.
8) Baby feeding supplies, from a small set of nice glass bottles to some nice melamine dishes when they get older might be a good idea to add. People do like to give those sorts of things, and you might as well ask for things you will feel comfortable using.
That is all I can think of right now. I hope that helps you!

My app't went well. Yikes on the weight gain, but I didn't gain any last month so overall, it isn't bad.
She adjusted my thyroid medicine because my free T4 was low. Maybe now I won't want to go to sleep at 8pm?
Next time will be glucola time and she is going to recheck my u/s because of a low-lying placenta.

Congrats! Glad it went well for you. Question - I see you have a passel of kids. Do you take them with you to appointments? I have a friend who is expecting #4 and I found out she takes all 3 of hers to the doctor each time. I took my son once because he was sick and I didn't want to infect my friends kids. I hated it! I just want to go to the MW by myself honestly.

This is my fourth and I've never taken all of them in. I took just my 3yo once for a quick visit and she charmed all the nurses but asked a TON of questions. I had to have an "exam" and she said "What he doing? Why he looking at your booty?" LOL I try to get my MIL or DH to watch them when I go to the dr. It's just too much to take them all in!

Nerdymom- Thank you so much for your pointers! That is exactly what I needed. When I get on there to assess the registry my head starts to spin! I will get in there and edit soon before my SIL sends out the invites and registry info. I have the boppy and nursing supplies on a Target registry. My mother thinks I should have two registries, so I just threw a few things in that one, but I think that will lead to confusion. Her logic is that not everyone will want to order stuff off amazon, some will want to go buy it in the store, but we are requesting people just have gifts shipped here so I don't have to try and bring a bunch of stuff home on the plane. Plus I think if they really feel the need to go buy stuff at the store they can get ideas off the amazon registry. I'm thinking about eliminating the target registry and only having the amazon one, what do you think?
Also wanted to add that I have 3 older kids and I do not invite them all to hang out when the midwife comes for an appointment, not that they really want to anyway. DD2 is 6 and she loves the midwife b/c she delivered her and she's really, really excited about the baby so she tends to stick around longer. But I encourage them all to go out and play so we can have some peace and quiet.

The oldest 2 are in school, so we haven't brought them so far. I would like to at some point so they could hear the heartbeat too. My husband comes along and helps bring the 3 little ones. It's a bit chaotic, but we both really want him to be there.
