Book about "why" not "how"

I am looking for a good book recommendation that focuses more on the "whys" of Waldorf, not the "hows."  I have read ..First Teacher and Heaven on Earth.  Both are great, but I now know how to do a Waldorf house.  I have heard, even from one of our teachers, that Steiner's actual lectures are pretty dry and sloggy, but if those are what I need to read, that is fine.  I am looking for something heavier.

I am currently in the Waldorf teacher training up in Eugene... "Child's Changing Consciousness" "Study of Man"  "Balance in Teaching" are the first books (which are compilations of lectures) I would recommend.  I wouldn't call them dry or sloggy. However, they are not exactly quick reads, they require time to chew the cud, so to speak. It would be very helpful if you had a friend who would want to read along with you, so you have the chance to talk things over and share reactions, experiences, thoughts etc. I find this incredibly helpful in understanding (my husband is in the training as well and has studied anthroposophy for some time) However, any of his lectures or his books are helpful in understanding the why's.

I hope this helps!

You're welcome! I was thinking more about it and really the list is endless..... "Practical Advice to Teachers" "Discussions with Teachers"  and also by Renee Queirdo "Esoteric Foundations of Waldorf Education".  These are all really interesting as well.  Perhaps your school has a library with some (or all) of these on hand for borrowing.
