Has anyone tried the snow stroller? or other recs?

I am having a baby this winter and I remember how hard it was pushing my son around in a regular stroller in the snow, there is no way I want to go through that again I spent more time trying to carry the stroller cause it always got stuck.

This thing looks really cool but I wanted to know if anyone has tried this before I buy one. http://sanki.ca/sanki/

Any other good snow stroller ideas for this weather?  TIA!

Natalie, I live in Arizona, so I haven't tried this (or even heard of it at all), but wouldn't your new baby be warmer/safer/happier in a sling/Ergo/etc than he/she would be in a stroller?

Good luck!

While I am normally all about babywearing (and I, too, am in the desert parts of Arizona), it can be dangerous on the ice and hard-packed snow. I couldn't imagine how guilty I would feel if I hurt my baby because I slipped and lost my balance.

Babywearing in winter isn't as dangerous as it might seem to someone in Arizona.  I avoid certain shortcuts that get nasty in winter, I'm careful about footwear, walk slowly and extra carefully on slippery surfaces, pay extra attention to how well the kids are tucked in, etc..., but honestly, I'd have to take all of those same precautions with a stroller since if I slipped and fell with a stroller it could tip, or go shooting out into traffic.  The very few times I have slipped and fallen, my kids were fine since I put my hands out and caught myself, and one time dd didn't even wake up.

That being said, I've heard good things about the Phil and Teds strollers in snow and slush.

We have an older version of the baby jogger performance stroller: http://www.babyjogger.com/perf_jogger_lp.aspx.  Because of the huge wheels, it works fine in the snow.  We just took it out this morning!  And I put my 21 month old son in the stroller, and wear my newborn daughter in a moby on the front.  But I always were yaktrax on my boots: http://www.amazon.com/Yaktrax-Walker-Traction-Cleats-Black/dp/B001CZJIPA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1292978222&sr=8-1.  Those allow you to literally walk on ice and have traction, so I feel safe baby wearing int he winter.  Hope that helped!

Honestly that looks like a piece of crap to me.  Its like those bar things kids use to go skating when they're just learning.  I don't think that it would do very well on snow!  I wore dd for 2 winters with only one incident, and we were both fine.  If you think about it, when you fall in the snow, you fall on your bum or to the side (assuming you're not doing anything too crazy ), and I too now have something similar to yak traks so we won't have that problem if we have another lo.

However if you want to go the stroller route, you could do a jogging stroller with big wheels, a bike trailer with bigger still wheels (this is what we have, but you can get another large wheel for the front http://www.mec.ca/Products/product_detail.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524442629540&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302735239) or there's always just a classic sled http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/browse/5/SportsRec/WinterSports/SledsToboggans/PRD~0825014P/Wooden%252BBaby%252BSleigh.jsp?locale=en

Hope that helps!  I bought a big winter coat and it fit over the 2 of us when we would go out for walks, it was awesome
