Need concise response that doesn't inspire facebook carseat war

Hello!
I posted this link on my facebook wall: http://thestir.cafemom.com/toddler/1...ats_arent_just

and just got this response: "First of all of you really watch the video the forward facing child has a shoulder belt not a 5 point buckle system. Second, my 29" long 14 month old barely fits (in length) backwards and even though her legs bend, after just a 30 minute ride she is complaining because at that age they don't like being confined and having there legs are folded up is confinement to them. Honestly, they should just start with stricter driving tests like they give CDL holders and get the old people off the road."

the "friend" that left the comment has 3 or 4 kids, ranging from 14 months to grade school. I only have 1 son who is almost 8 months old so clearly she is the "expert."

Anyways, I'd like to comment back without starting a bunch of drama but hopefully enlightening her and anyone else who takes the time to read. HELP!

I probably would just delete her comment off of the post.  The article you posted should be good info for anyone to read.  Commenting off of her comment will likely just spark drama.  If she comments about where her comment went, you could tell her that you're not interested in debating the issue, you're just posting some good information for people to be aware of.

I agree.  And if she asks why tell her you're not hosting  a debate on your wall.

If it were me I would probably say

"I'd rather listen to daily complaints about something my kid doesn't like, than have to tell my mom that her granddaughter was dead, knowing that a different choice on my part could have saved her life."

May not meet the avoidance of carseat wars, criteria. But I am not particularly debate averse when it comes to safety issues and kids.

You might also mention that you "know" lots of kids who rear-face until way older who don't complain (my ds1 RF's until he outgrew the weight-restrictions of the seat at just over 3.5 and he is a TALLL kid - he was FF until I learned better when he was 2, so he ahd plenty of experience FF, also and never made a fuss about being turned) so it's not an issue for everyone's kid.

My kiddo is 3 and has never once complained about riding rear facing. I'd just ignore her comment  She's not ignorant, and you educated her.  She just feels guilty for her poor choices!  It's a simple choice anyway, slightly uncomfortable or broken neck.  4 kids die per day riding forward facing. . .

Thanks everyone. I should have listened and just ignored her 2whistle.gif But I thought maybe another friend who hadn't considered ERF might  read something that prompted them to look into it. Anyways, I gave up after she left me this comment ""Apparently If we keep our kids in bubble wrap they will suffocate. On your youtube did you see that poor little girl with her feet practically on that back dash?"

Apparently carseat safety is the same as over-sheltering our kids?
