Little one with dry skin, lotion recomendations?

Hi all, Merry Christmas! My little one who is over a year now is developing some dry skin, nothing extreme, but I am not sure what would be best to use, can I just use coconut oil, I personally like to use Burt's Bees Milk and Honey lotion for myself. Any thoughts or suggestions would be much appreciated. I'm not sure if LO would have a reaction to something that is too strong lotion wise......

I'd go with the coconut oil! It gets absorbed so much more easily than lotions.

I have heard that Aveeno is sometimes a no-no as some folks are allergic to oatmeal.  A pediatric dermatologist with whom I spoke recommended Eucarin.  It's pricey but supposed to be excellent.  You may also want to ditch perfumed detergent/drier sheets.  Good luck!

Coconut oil is great for babies and we also like California Baby Calendula Cream.  Dd had VERY sensitive skin as a baby and we used all the California Baby products with great success.

I use coconut oil or olive oil on my babies.  Dd had super sensitive skin, and still does.  California Baby was the only bubble bath I could use for her, so I would trust their products.

Burt's Bees stuff is too smelly for me; I don't like strong fragrance.  Even their diaper cream and baby powder gave dd a rash.

I use Nature's Acres creams, and they are wonderful.  They don't put anything weird or yucky in them; I know and trust the herbalist who makes them.

100% pure Shea Butter is wonderful.  It is very gentle and absorbs quickly but is extremely moisturizing.

I like the Better Body Butter by Episencial.

It says "body butter", but it's the consistency of lotion.

No fragrance, no parabens.

I do use shea butter too sometimes, but I think lotion adds hydration that oil only does not.

You can find it on amazon, diapers.com, etc.

Johnson and Johnson owns aveeno, they usually contain most of the same ingredients. We have been adding a few drops of olive oil (very few) to bath water. So far, thumbs up.

My kids both have super sensitive skin.  I've had great success with the weleda calendula oil and it smells so good!  Their diaper cream is amazing as well.

My girls (like both their parents) have insanely sensitive skin. Plain ol' olive oil is what I use most often. I have also used:

Eucerin: doc recommended, the kind in the tub, not the kind in the pump. Thick and can be used as a protective layer as well. Works best over another moisturizer, like olive oil.
Cetaphil: works well for regular maintenance/prevention, but not as effective on very dry skin.
California Baby Calendula cream: good for irritated skin as well, but it has a fragrance... a nice one, but I prefer not to use it much on faces/chins. I think I like it better than the Eucerin, but for the price Eucerin goes farther.
