Woke up at 3am with intermittent contractions which turned into painful, regular ones from 5am to 6am. Got up sent DD to school with the neighbors and napped a bit and watched TV. Called my Doula to complain of prodromal labor (exactly the same as DD and she took 4 days to come out). I grumbled and complained and readied myself for another long, posterior labor.
Got in the shower at around 1pm, felt crabby enough to sit in a hot bath tub around 130. Called the doula just to tell her maybe later tonight but no rush. Hot water cut out and told DH to call a babysitter so he could tend to the hot water issue. (Still thinking I had a whole night of laboring ahead of me.) Started pretty intense contractions which were manageable with hypnobirthing and hot water compresses on my back. Wanted the doula to come over so we could all go to the birth center together and still expected several more hours, thought I was maybe at 4 or 5 cm.
Water broke and immediately started pushing uncontrollably. I knew he was coming fast and we wouldn't make it to the birth center. Had the babysitter call 911. Pushed crazy hard 5 times and his head was out with me kneeling in the tub. DH somehow knew to do perineal support and told me baby's head was turning blue and needed to come out. Pushed like hell and out he flew. Just then EMTs and firefighters started filling up my house and bathroom. Had hoped to go to the birth center, but baby was a bit pale and I couldn't tell how much blood was too much, so we transported by ambulance to local hospital. Baby and I checked out perfectly healthy.
Scary, but still magical and amazing. Baby weighed 9 pounds 2 ounces!!! he had no moulding to his head and looked like he had been born by C-section. No stitches thanks to DH. :)
