Infant See program?

Has anyone taken their baby for the "Infant See" screening which is offered for free to babies between 6 and 12 months?   We have an appointment scheduled but I am feeling some trepidation about subjecting my daughter to what may be unnecessarily invasive tests - i.e. the receptionist who scheduled this appointment said that the eye doctor uses eye drops to dilate the baby's pupils, and that the baby's vision may be blurry for a couple of days after that.     Our naturopath, whose judgment I trust on things like this, doesn't know anything about this program and so I am hoping to hear about other people's experiences!  Thanks,

I didn't go through this program but my son had his eyes examined at 12 months. He is 10.5 yo now so I don't really remember much but here is the gist...They called us back and a nurse/tech put some drops in DS's eyes. Then we went to a different waiting room and waited about 20 min for the drops to work. Then we went into the exam room. DS sat on my lap and I really don't know what the ophthamologist was doing but it was nothing invasive. He basically just looked in DS's eyes. DS didn't enjoy the exam but it was really fast (like 5 min?) and the doctor was great with him. I don't remember any problems after. I'm guessing they probably gave him some sunglasses to wear on the way out because dilated eyes are more sensitive to light.

My husband is diabetic so he gets his eyes dilated every year since diabetes can cause eye problems. While his vision is a bit blurry for a few hours after, it never lasts for days. I would think it would be that way for a baby?
