hooked on phonics ?

okay so debating about getting hooked on phonics... i looked around on their website and it seems like it may be a good fit my question is only..... pre-k, or k? 

ds recognizes and knows all the letters capital and lower case and knows about half of the sounds already... starting to be able to hear the letter sounds at the beginning of some words... still working on that but he knows that words are made of letters and letters make sounds. 

so what da ya think? is the pre-k mostly working on recognizing letters? would the k still be too advanced?

we own k, 1, 2, and master reader. we've used them all and like them all.  i've not used pre-k, but the k level reviews all of the letter sounds before moving into words...so i'd personally go that route.  it's very gentle imho.  hth.
