I am literally LUSTING after the Winter Village and the Winter Toyshop. Oh, and the Advent calendar. Â Any chance they are considered "holiday" merchandise and go on sale??

I think if it's seasonal you'd def. have a chance! Our lego store has a sale section, and you could always call right after the holiday. I got a playmobil advent calendar 50% off one year after holidays at a local toy store, so I'd check independant toy stores right after holidays. Usually it's a no for legos, but seasonal themed ones might well go on sale. Good luck!

The Lego advent calenders traditionally sell out every year so I don't think you have a huge chance of getting on sale but our local (independent) toy store marks all advent calendars 50% off the day after Xmas. I bought mine the first week in Nov. but asked her to call me if she gets any returns. I have boys who I could give to next year and they won't care if it is "last years" version. You could try that route.Â
Â
The winter village gets recycled each year. Â The manager at the Lego store store told me that any that remain in the store after New Years are sent back to the main DC for next year. But you never know, with the way retail sales are coming in for the quarter they might decide to liquidate instead. I would talk your local toy store or if you have a Lego store stop in and talk to the manager. If they don't have any left they could do a store search to see if anyone still has them left and then call them on the 12/26.
Â
Good luck!
LEGOS, unfortunately, never seem to go on sale. Â And if you're REALLY unlucky, the set you wait for will become collectible and go for more later on, though probably not the holiday stuff. Â I went looking for some neat sets from a few years back that aren't even licensed and got a pretty disappointing dose of Lego reality.
Legos rarely go on sale, let alone for a deep discount. Often sets are made in limited quantities, so they sell out. The best I've ever done is buy one get one 50% off, and that rarely happens and is only the less than desirable sets.
Â
You won't find a Lego advent calendar or a holiday themed set 75% off after Chirstmas.

If you have a lego store near you they have a VIP card that gives approx 5% back in store dollars. Its not a credit card, its just like a grocery shoppers card. I think they have it set up so you can use it online at lego.com as well but im not toally sure on that. Every little bit helps with lego.

We have no Lego store anywhere near here. Â As a matter of fact, the local toy stores carry very limited inventory, so most of my browsing is online. I'm getting the sense that once you get sucked into Lego there is no way out. Maybe we stick with the basic blocks. Although that winter village is going on my Christmas list next year!

Basic blocks?? Mom that will not be possible.... I have vocabulary I didnt know existed... There are things called 'jumper plates' and they are very important LOL.  Plus if you go to lego.com there is a way to download the digital designer and you can 'build' legos on your computer. DS was so excited when he discovered that. I think if you google lego digital designer you should be able to find it.Â
Â
We have so many of the special sets and limited sets its not even funny. DS has the VW Bug from last year??, tons of the technic sets, the 3 in 1 sets, I *think* thru the magic of santa someone is getting him the $240 London Bridge this year. That thing is huge! I will be forever in debt to the person who got him that.
DS has the Architecture colletction on display.
Â
Ya we have an addiction here and we have it bad....
Â
FYI here is the VIP info

Umm...jumper plates? I smell trouble. The catalog makes me drool, but I manage to put it down b4 Im tempted to buy anything. Â I've been pushing Legos bcs I loved them as a kid but now I'm thinking I better back away. I was thinking road plates would be a splurge, never mind some of the crazy sets (also love the medieval village). Sigh.
