"We need to talk about your job", says my boss....

After he handed me my annual Christmas bonus yesterday afternoon.  Said he's been hearing some things.  I was like, in a joking sense "oh, what did I do now?" and he said that he didn't want to get in to it and that we'll talk about it after Christmas.  His mood was light and half joking, but I mean, seriously?  He now has me thinking of what it could be.  Everyone is stressed right now and overwhelmed, including myself, and I'm almost positive he's going to mention that my attitude isn't up to par or someone said this or that.  He really tends to knit pick at stuff like this but when I voice my complaints, they tend to me swept under the rug.

I've also been looking for a new job, but I don't think he would know about that. I've kept it very, very discrete and have been using my lunch hours to do interviews and such and he's already ever around during that time anyhow.

Anyhow, this is more of a 'grrrrr' post than anything.  Just so typical of where I work and his personality that it pisses me off.

I think it might be something good... I can't imagine someone having a problem with you an lightheartedly bringing it up but not wanting to talk about it yet.  I know I don't know him, but thats how it sounds to me.  Could it be something positive?  A promotion or something?

I'm not sure.  There's really no where to move up in my company. I work with sports agents and I'm the office manager/receptionist.  The next move would be an agent, and I haven't been here that long and really haven't been exposed to the details of what an agent does.  Who knows. He did let my scoot out early yesterday - an hour early.  And today, eventhough we're open, he told me to come in later (we're having inclement weather) and that I would only be around for a couple of hours.

No matter what it is, that sucks that he did that to you.  When you go in today could you maybe say something like "I know you don't want to get into it now, but could you just let me know if this is a positive or negative thing so I don't spend my whole Christmas worrying about it?"

A couple of months ago my DH's boss asked him to come to his house for a face-to-face meeting.  They all work remotely, so face-to-face doesn't happen very often and my DH was freaking out about what he didn't want to talk about over the phone.  DH is also a worrier by nature, so he didn't sleep for a week because he was afraid he was going to get fired.  Of course it was nothing like that and everything was fine but it was a rough few days leading up to it.
