Anyone ever participate in a toddler or children's program at their zoo?

I'm considering signing DD up for a Spring toddler program at the zoo. It's once a week and for one hour. It's a series of 6 different hands on animal enrichment, storytelling and arts and crafts. The price is reasonable and since we're members we'd get a discount. Just wondered if any other parents had participated in this kind of thing with their child.

Normally, I like to take DD to a trial class but this isn't set up that way and the spots fill up quickly. She loves the zoo and I thought this would be fun for us both to do.

If anyone has participated in something like this before I'd love to hear your thoughts. Thank you!

We've done more zoo programs than I can list, (my oldest is 14!) They've ALL been wonderful. At a zoo camp one summer, my kids spent the week making *enrichment* for the animals. Things like popsicils with fish in them for the polar bears!

DD1 just turned 4 last summer and did a Zoo Tales camp for 3 mornings at our local zoo.  It was WONDERFUL... she got to feed a giraffe, pet an alligator (or a crocodile- I couldn't figure out which), she got to help clean one animal's cage.  She LOVED it and we can't wait to sign her up again this summer.

If you kid likes or loves animals I say go for it.  What a neat opportunity.

Thanks. Registration is in January and we're going to sign her up for all six sessions. It sounds like your kids had a lot of fun and DD loves animals and the zoo. She'd go everyday if she was able to. They have the sessions on Thursday and Saturday so I'll take her to 3 sessions during the week and DH can go with her on the weekend or we can all go so he gets to see her in action with the animals. Happy Holidays! :)

We've also done zoo camps/sessions with great success. Lots of fun for the kids, IMO. I'm sure the quality of the programs vary from zoo to zoo, but, ours has always had awesome sessions.
