My toddler's armpit, then what is the most accurate reading? If I just stick it in and press the button, it says 38.8. But if I leave it in for up to 2 mins, it reads 40.1... big difference!

Help!

Thermometers can show temps that are lower than they really are, but unless the thermometer is malfunctioning, they don't show falsely high temps. So the highest temperature is the most accurate one. Leave it in (I know its hard with a wiggly toddler) until it stops going up. It will stop going up eventually. And that's the correct temperature, the highest one.
