those who fly to/from Hawaii or have family that do - advice on airline rewards programs?

My mom was born and raised in Pearl City.  So I'm not exactly kaima'ana, but due to my military upbringing, my roots are strongly bound on Oahu.  After our trip earlier this month, we have realized that we need to make trips there a priority for our family.  If you fly from the mainland or if you have family that visits regularly, do you have suggestions on a particular airline and their rewards program?  I would not need to fly to other islands (hope to one day), just mainland to Honolulu.  And I'm flexible on departure city, as we'd have to connect somewhere anyhow from where we live.  THANK YOU for any thoughts.

The only one I hear of people using is Hawaiian, they tend to have the most regular "cheap" fares.

We use Alaska Airlines as much as possible. they have a great milage plan.

:) Last year I used my miles to buy my DD a ticket from Alaska to Montana to visit her Grandmas.

they have really great prices too, at least coming and going from Alaska.

Good Luck!

(I also get Alaska Airlimes miles shopping at Safeway/Carrs and when I pay my phone bill on time! and if you get the Alaska Airlines Visa Card, you get miles on all purchases.)
