5 yr old with neck pain

I'm trying to figure out what might be bothering my boy.

He has been complaining of neck pain the last few days (pointing to the back right at the base of the skull).

I try to get him to describe the pain, but difficult to assess.

He said it doesn't hurt to lean it/bend it, doesn't help for me to rub it, I don't feel any enlarged lymph...

I never noticed any fever, but another "odd" thing is he has had a rash on his torso (mostly front), not itchy, doesn't seem to bother him externally, blotchy raised bumps.

My only thought is maybe he has an ear infection (except no fever)... he once had a raging double ear infection and he never said anything to us - but suddenly spiked a fever.

We have recently moved houses/towns (nearby, but still complete change) and we have all had our lives a bit turned up side down, less sleep, routines changing, etc.

He has seemed extra tired, whiny, less active.

Thanks for your thoughts!

I would consider strep. Someone else posted a while back about neck pain that actually turned out to be strep throat. The rash sounds like what dd when she had scarlet fever a few months ago (which is, well, strep with a rash). I would strep test, just in case.

I would take him to a chiropractor. They should be able to asses the neck situation and a good chiro might be able to help with the rash.
