help! we are so sick

DD and I have a bad virus. I feel so weak I can't stand it. My throat is killing me and my ears hurt from the congestion. I have yet to get a fever but DD had one of 103 last night and I got it down to 101 today. she can hardly stay awake and is miserable.

I have been giving her "kids relief pain and fever" which has belladonna and arnica, rosemary, st. johns wart, and white cedar in it.

is there anything I can give her with this to help her throat and other symptoms?

How old is your DD?

I'm looking for advice as well, because DD and DH are sick.

Hugs to you Mama. I hope someone comes in with some great remedies for you.

Taking lots and lots of vitamin C usually helps quite a bit with our illnesses.  How old is your LO, are they breastfeeding, and if yes, is it exclusive?  Once DS started solids, I had to give him vitC directly to help with his colds.  I use sodium ascorbate, it's easier on the stomach than many other forms and that matters when you're taking a whole lot--when I was sick, I'd need on the order of 20,000 mg per day, divided into about 4 doses--but the amount you need is a guess-and-check process, diarrhea or a rumbly stomach mean too much.

Aviva Romm's spicy lemonade (lemon juice, water, garlic, honey, google for directions) is really tasty and very soothing on the throat, I like sipping it warm.  Honey has the usual age recommendations.

I've read some people use high dose vit D to help with acute illnesses, I haven't tried it, and I'd be more inclined to use it for you than for your LO, but it's another something to consider.

And when our throats hurt, or we have head/chest congestion, we make a lot of soup.  Homemade chicken noodle soup, starting from a chicken carcass to make chicken stock, is incredibly comforting.  I like the recipe on the Mothering site, the recipe portion of the site I mean.

Some good suggestions above.

For me, whenever my DS (2.5) spikes a "high" (for me 103 would be high) fever. I always want to know the cause so I know where to focus my healing efforts.

In other words, a trip to the dr would be what I would do so they could check his ears/throat etc.

The last time my DS spiked a 103 fever and was MISERABLE and not improving quickly I took him in. I suspected his throat was sore b/c he wasn't even nursing well. The dr confirmed throat, nose & EAR infection. The ear infection completely caught me off guard. His fever was down a little at this point. He did give me a script for abx which I told him I wasn't interested in giving. He said if he still had a high fever the next morning to please give it.

So I immediately went home and started the garlic ear drops. Made the above garlic lemonade and gave it as frequently as I could. I started to see DS feel better bit by bit, and by next morning there was no fever at all. I continued the garlic in the ears/drink for days after to be sure it was gone.

I hope she feels better quickly!

i can feel it in my lungs and im assuming she is too she was having some weird noises last night and i was horrified. shes 20lbs and i had her sleep on my chest the whole night lol i didnt sleep much.

i have a multi i give her that has vitamin c in it. do you think that's good enough?

That amount of C wouldn't touch any illness my son had.

The starting dosage guidelines I've read are 250 mg / kg body weight, divided throughout the day.  That translates to 1.1 grams per 10 pounds of body weight, so a 20 pound child, 2,200 mg divided throughout the day.  My son always needed more but he isn't typical--but it does take trial and error to figure out each individual.

One thing that surprised me that helped my daughter when she was coughing was a eucalyptus and other stuff shower tab, I found them at my mainstream grocery store.  Just a tablet that sits on the floor of the tub and you turn the shower on--hot water plus the oils helped noticeably, and my other usual stuff hadn't so far.

Hope y'all feel better soon.
