Hi I'm looking for a little advice.
My 5 year old dd is just wired at the moment. I know it's the excitment of Christmas but I feel like I need to help her come out of her head a little and back into her body.
She's a very heady person, she is constantly thinking and working things out and more than anything she is talking, talking, talking. It is just constant and we feel that she is just verbalising what is in her head. Most of the time this is fine and I love her chatter, but sometimes I just find it too much. We never get to be in silence, we never have space to breath and process because there is just constant chatter. I also have a 2 year old and a 6 month old, so things can get pretty loud and I am craving a little silence and head space. I know that I probably model a lot of chatter too and I am consciously trying to be more silent, not to over talk.
Another concern is her chatter in school. She attends a mainstream school, and has been there since Septemenr. She loves it and it really suits her apart from she obviously finds not talking all the time difficult. Her teacher told me at the parent/teacher evening that she has to call her name sometimes tos stop her talking and the other day she was actually moved away from her wee buddy because they just don't stopped chatting...
So I feel I need to learn a little more about whether this would be part of her natural temprament, and if so what recommendations are there to help her/ me? Also do you have any experience of this, what did you do? Do you have any recommendations to help her, to quieten her a little.
I was thinking of trying to bring her into her body a little more, maybe doing some easy yoga with her?
Thanks for your help Laura x
