would you consider me a good candidate for vba3c ?

Hi , I have a big question to ask . I have 5 kids , 2 cs (first necessary, second most likely not) , 2 natural deliveries and last also cs .

Most likely also unnecessary , everything went wrong from the start . The doctor ruptured my membranes w/o asking me , even though my cervix was not ripe yet , after my contractions didn´t start like they should , they put me on IV meds to get things going and after 4 days of slooooow progress , a rising infection level in my blood and dropping fetal hb , I ended up with another cs .

Now my question , I want another child , my youngest is 7,5 months now , the scar has healed fine , as a matter of fact , I was able to do things after 2 days with this cs , that I couldn´t do until after 2 weeks with the first two (12 and 13 years ago) , but how long should I wait to get pregnant again and what can I do to increase my chance of vbac ?

There is no way , I´ll let them cut me open again , if I can help it nono02.gif

One thing , we are moving soon , so I won´t have to go the same hospital again . That´s one good thing !

Plus , they didn´t open my old scar , which is healed so well , you can hardly see it anymore inside and out and measured same thickness as the rest of my uterus on every US . Instead , they made a cut about 2 cm higher (transverse , inside and out) .

PLEASE tell me , that there is a chance , I will succeed again next time

There is not much research available on the safety of vbac after 3 csec...although it appears to be generally agreed that risk of uterine rupture is higher than with 1 or 2 csec.  I would go to www.ican-online.org, for the best info.

The fact that you have already given birth vaginally is a great thing!  Your body knows how to give birth and this increases your likelihood of a normal labor for your next baby.

However, you may find it hard to locate providers who are willing to help you with a vba3c...homebirth may be your best bet there.

good luck!

The one thing I was hoping , would play in my favor , is that they never touched my old scar , it´s as hard and solid as ever , so I am hoping , that will improve my chances . How long should I wait , though , before getting pregnant again , to improve my chances ?

There is no clear cut answer to this question of appropriate interval...but having at least 18 mos between births seems wise.

You are a fantastic candidate!!! You've already had 2 vaginal births.  There no reason, at present, for you to schedule a c/section.    You might want to wait a year or so, but you don't HAVE to.  The problem you will run into is finding a provider who is not going to try and use scare tactics to get you to have a repeat c/section.  You co uld even look into homebirth or a birth center. I say go for it!!!

Thank you so much for your response , There was so much crap going on last time , not with the pregnancy , but just a lot of stressy things with my mother having problems with her deadbeat ex and such , that I really feel , that was part of the reason , things went wrong . But this time , I can feel , that things will go well . joy.gif

By the way , how long did you have between the last c/s and this conception ?

Our baby is 8 months now and I am counting the days , until we can start trying again , but I also don´t want to do it too quickly , so that every risk I can influence , will be eliminated as much as possible
