First baby spontaneous labor - second won't show up.

I need to hear positive stories about second babies that came later than first ones but still came on their own.

My son was born spontaneously and naturally at 40+4.  This time I'm at 41+1, sitting in a hotel over Christmas (no medical facilities in my town, so I have to travel to have the kid), with no signs other than the same Braxton Hicks I've been having forever.  I have a nursing-happy toddler, and even the nipple stimulation does nothing.  (nor walking, nor sex, etc...).

I need to trust my body to have this baby before the end of the year.  How could it work so well the first time, but not again!  Everyone I know in real life has their second babies earlier, so I really need some positive stories of it working the other way!

My first was born at 39 weeks and a few days.  The next two didn't arrive until 42 w 3 days (same length, for both of them).  IMO, "working well" doesn't have anything to do with where in the range of normal (37-42 w) labor starts.  The late babies were by far easier for me, even though the babies were much bigger than my first.  My second kid I had as near to painless labor as I could imagine happening.  4 hours.  The third one hurt like the dickens but was also only 4 hours.

((((hugs))))  I know it's frustrating going past 40 weeks, not just with the pressure of people making you feel like you're somehow "wrong" to still have a baby inside you, but with just the extended discomfort of being that massively pregnant.  Here's hoping you'll have your baby in arms soon!

Out of my 3 babies, each pg has gotten longer each time, none of them have been preterm. It is soo hard to wait. hug2.gif

First baby came at 43+1 weeks - that was hard enough.

Second baby not till 43+6 weeks - and I was sooo sure that she would come at least a little bit earlier than DD1 that it was even harder to wait!

Both were spontaneous labours.  DD1's was very long and difficult - she was malpositioned, but DD2's was much easier and faster (less than an hour all told!) and DD2 had plenty of vernix on her too, so not overcooked at all :)

Hang in there - it's hard, but worth it!
