Meat grinder?

I'm not sure if this is the best forum for this but...

What kind of meat can you put through a meat grinder? Just whatever? I am looking at getting a hand crank meat grinder because we tend to use a lot of ground meat and we got a gift card that I thought would be good to buy it with.

Is the Prago brand good?

We have a Chop-rite meat grinder which is pretty nice. We use it when we butcher dear mostly, though I'm sure you could put whatever through it... I think I've done turkey a couple times. :shrug

I am pretty sure you can do whatever type of meat.Just harder to crank the tough fatty parts. I have used the old fashioned meat grinder my mom picked up at a thrift store.Love it.Grinds up nuts well too.

yep, should grind any meat that you can feed into it. Won't do bones very well of course, but meat is meat, so should grind just fine. I bought mine at a thirft store, had all the pieces as well as the orginal box and manual, so no help to you on a current brand.

We have a grinder attachment for our mixer. Works great and does all kinds of meats. It does have to be chunked first, since a whole steak isn't going to go through well. eyesroll.gif. Obviously. Look for one that has a sausage stuffing accessory to make it multipurpose.
