Breasts are always making milk, and I am pretty sure they're always getting something. I think so, because even if my babies were asleep, if I took them off the breast, there'd be a bit of milk in their mouths, and drops on my nipple.
Once the letdown is over, and they've extracted most of what's there, if they don't suckle vigorously to get another letdown, then they're getting tiny trickles-- this is good, because it's that milk that's the richest and fattiest-- what's called "hindmilk"-- that promotes weight gain and development.Return HomeBack to Forum: Breastfeeding- What is comfort nursing?
