Has this happened to anyone else? I used to like them when I was younger. We got a Wii from the ILs for Christmas and I tried to play it and got super-tense: stinky cold sweat, irritable, etc. There was so much on the screen and it felt like when the washer, dishwasher, dryer are all running and the kids are screaming and the tv is on and the radio - just total overload. Dh got upset with me b/c I quickly quit, but it felt awful physically. I tried googling this and got one result of a man whose acupuncturist told him to stop playing video games b/c they made him too anxious.

Well, ages ago, like maybe 20 years ago I tried out my dh's 'first person shooter' computer game. I couldn't get down the hallway of the under ground bunker because I jumped out of my skin every time the zombies popped out in front of me. I'm pretty sure this wouldn't happen to me now, but I also now take an anti-depressant and a mood stabilizer.Â
Â
It's been discussed many times here at MDC how mamas can get uber sensitive to traumatic news stories. I stopped watching news on TV, stopped reading the crime stories in the news paper, and I generally self-censor. I wonder if this is kind of related?Â

I get anxious with some video games (though not really the sensory overload you described, which is surprising since I'm an HSP), but I like lots of others. Maybe it's just certain games that are bad for you.
Â
(And if any of your family has a problem with you not wanting to play those games, tell them they can go still the Wii Remote where the sun don't shine.Â
