I'm just entering my 3rd trimester and want to bump up my DHA intake. I've been taking a fish oil supplement, but lately I've been hearing about the increased benefits of DHA from krill oil. Does anybody have any knowledge/experience with this?

Yes - it stinks! :(
Â
I'm taking a fish oil instead b/c I can't stand the fishy smell of Krill (mixed with vanilla- yuck).
Â
But I've heard that it is good and potentially more safe in terms of mercury. And it's also sustainably harvested.
Â
I'm not sure that fish oil supplements are dangerous in terms of mercury, though, so it may be a moot point.

Smell is definitely not krill oil's selling pointÂ
But considering the many krill oil benefits, I think it's a fair trade.
I have no clue what you mean by its smell. Mine doesn't smell at all and you don't get the fishy burps from it like you can with fish oil. Krill oil's fatty acid chains are different from fish oil's, allowing it to be used more effectively and efficiently by the body which causes faster absorption and eliminates the fishy burps. It also is a more stable chain which gives it a longer shelf life than fish oil. I take NOW Foods brand. Haven't had any problems.Â
