spilling glucose into urine

My doc did not pursue further GD screening after I passed the one-hr glucola challenge. I urine dipstick at home, and have recently noticed increasing glycosuria. The dipsticks are now entering the brown range (ie. more than 250 mg/dL, approaching 1000 mg/dL range). I know that urine glucose can be normal for some pregnant women, and alone does not diagnose GD. Would anyone else be concerned?

I don't know that a constant increase in glucose in urine is normal. If it shows up once in a while, they don't typically freak out though. Do you have a blood glucose meter? May be worthwhile to invest in one and just check on it. I had glucose in my urine at my last appointment, and when I started checking my sugar it WAS high. You can also ask your doc to check it himself (not the 1 hour test, but maybe the breakfast?) and see where you are. Also maybe try low GI and see if that helps? (My sugar went way down after I started that)

I would definitely get it checked out, don't wanna mess with GD! Good luck mama!

Thank you, Nanette. I called the doc & he has arranged the 3-hr glucola test for this week. After reading that GD can contribute to a whole set of horrible outcomes for the baby, I would rather be safe than sorry. I think you're right, the fact that my urine glucose continues to increase is a problem.
