Congratulations! That sounds like a great birth. I hope mine is that smooth.

Congratulations, Mama!  Sounds like you were born to birth babies.smile.gif  She's so cute.

Oh, I know everyone says that if you're BF "correctly," then it won't hurt, but I've gotta say that the first time you nurse a baby there is a general "wearing in" of the nipples -- lol.  I mean, it should definitely get better and, of course, you want to make sure the latch is good, but it can be really normal to feel like "holy crud someone is vigorously pulling, sucking, and yanking on my tender nipples yowzer" yikes.gif for a little while.  I mean, heck, I'm getting ready for baby #4 and I've been BF for over seven years straight (between my various children) and still with each newborn I'm always like, "Wowwy Zowwie!" at the newborn sucking.

I agree wholeheartedly!  I worked so hard to "perfect" breastfeeding with my first, but I still had a period of adjustment to it.  Maybe a solid week.  But then all was well.

And I've heard the same thing about subsequent babies.  There's always that period of, "Oh yeah!  THAT'S what it feels like to nurse a newborn."  Toddlers are so different. smile.gif

Wow, she's lovely, and what a nice, uplifting, easy birth story to get to read!

But one question... what's "whopping" about 7 lbs 4 oz? Just wondering.

Just because she was 3 weeks early. Not exactly "whopping", I know. I just wonder how big she'd have been by/past her due date.

Congrats!

Wow, gorgeous!!  And she was bigger than my 40w1d son, who was actually my earliest baby and my 2nd largest baby, I have had two smaller.  I say she's perfect!  Your birth story was amazing, and what a beautiful baby girl you have.  Enjoy your babymoon!

Congratulations!  What a wonderful birth and PERFECT size (my first was 7lb4.9oz, second was 7lb4.3oz)!  I agree with PPs about the soreness.  I never had "problems", but that first week I would usually grit my teeth after they first latched for a few minutes.  The latch was good, just took a bit to get used to.  Hope it continues to go well!  So beautiful!
