I plan to homeschool!!!

Thread Starter
I just wanted to say that I am very excited about me and dh's decision to homeschool our dd. She is 14 months old now and I have already begun teaching her spanish and, of course, english using various tools... one of which is FLASH CARDS!!! DD is progressing wonderfully!!! She knows sooo many words in both languages. I come up with more and more ideas every day that will make learning fun.

I really look forward in being apart of this particular forum and hope to make some lasting friends here.

Hi mama...
We are on the same track!
It;s so funny how things happen...
I never intended to co-sleep, but it made sense...
I never thought I'd still be b-feeding, but it makes sense.
I used to think homeschoolers were over-controlling, backwards arogant parents...
My experience, as a social worker, had only exposed me to "failed" families that had homeschooled.
Last week, I was with my ds waiting for swim class to start when someone said, "Oh, the homeschoolers are in the pool...we go next."
I looked at this group, and it came like a flash of light...
I approached my husband, over a nice breakfast out...
He was open-minded, asked for pros and cons...and said, sure!
So, I just bought the Complete Idiots Guide to HS (Since I am in idiot in this area) and am so excited.
I'm going to keep this private for awhile...until I get myself well-armed.
Funny how excited I feel...

good and bad experiece

Hello christina,

It is so neat to hear someone who had a very negative feeling about homeschool make a complete turn around.

I want very much to homeschool. I was homeschooled and feel the bigest drawback was that even though we were always very busy we did not have very much social interaction. It didn't make us shy or backward though.

I plan to and have already started to envolve my child in community activites like t-ball and other things where he can be part of a team. If you think about it there is a much better chance for parental guidance than turning them loose all day by their self in school.

Okay, were awfully early in our thinking too...

But I am also pretty excited by the idea. I never thought of myself of someone who might homeschool. But I never thought I'd do anything else loosely defined as AP either.

I too never would have imagined homeschooling!!!! I taught
elem. Public school for 8 years and now all I want to do is
homeschool my kids! In fact, that's what i've been doing and
never really realized it!
