ruptured membranes and no labor

My water broke this morning at 3 am.  It's now 3pm and I barely have any contraction.  Water is clear, baby's moving well, I have no fever.  At first, I had painful contractions every 3-4 minutes and some bloody show, but that all faded.

I was hoping that nursing my toddler would help, but he absolutely refuses to do so, which is unheard of...  Actually he's avoiding me altogether, but that's another story.

So, other than taking out my breastpump, any suggestions on how to get things going?

(yes, my midwife knows about the ruptured membranes, she came by earlier, but she's more patient than me and didnt suggest much hehe)

With #4, my water broke on Monday evening and nothing happened. Tuesday brought some puttery contractions but nothing significant. My midwife had me take extra vitamin C to prevent infection. When Wednesday rolled around and I still wasn't in labor, I had acupuncture in the morning and took about 10 Swiss Kriss tablets (very gentle herbal laxative) in the evening. Labor started the next morning (and there weren't any hideous side effects from taking Swiss Kriss).

Oh, that might be why my midwife is pushing the Emergen-C

I was wondering why she wanted me to drink that plus the energy drink!

At least im staying hydrated!

I used pressure points (as well as walking for miles and nipple stimulation) with my daughter when my water broke without contractions.  It didn't help, but made me feel like I was doing something proactive.

Acupuncture!  And walking.  Not at the same time ;)

Walking worked for me.  We walked for 10 hours, though.  Labor should begin soon.  Take it easy and save your energy for the work of labor.  Your midwife isn't concerned, so just get some rest this evening as you are likely to be awakened in the wee hours with labor.  FWIW, my labor kicked in at 26 hours after the water broke and she was born 31 hours after it broke.  ELVs!!!
