I'm not sure if this is a family planning or a fertility question or what....
Basically, my family practice DO is on maternity leave and I will be seeing the other doc in the office for my pap next week. I'm having some issues with my cycle that lead me to think i need to be evaluated for PCOS (unexplained weight gain, 40+ day cycles, extreme variations in the duration/amt. of period, extreme sensitivity to sugar, and the list goes on).
What questions do I ask? Is a family practice doc likely to refer me to a gyn?
Things just haven't been right since DD was born almost 2 years ago, and since moving here 1.5 yrs ago I haven't really addressed the issue. (Not slacking, just attributed problems to BFing.)
Where do I start?
ETA: is it possible to develop PCOS after an easy to conceive, uneventful pregnancy? Sorry in advance for asking dumb questions, but there is a lot of conflicting information out there and i trust MDC mamas!
