So on Thursday I spent $11 on clothing.  $3 of it was totally unneeded- I bought a Tshirt for myself.  I also bought DS1 a new pair of pants.  He isn't in desperate need of new pants, but he's outgrown his pants AGAIN, he does his own laundry, and 3 pairs of jeans just isn't going to cut it.  So it was a splurge, but not a totally unreasonable splurge.  I also went over our alcohol budget to buy some wine.  No excuse other than I really wanted it.

On the plus side, I had budgeted money for DH to go out to eat with his sister and dad this month (they go out every year for a memorial dinner on MIL's birthday).  But FIL paid for DH's dinner/drinks.  So hooray- my splurges are more than covered :)

BUT I was so proud of myself yesterday.  I went to Costco for groceries.  I spent about 20 minutes looking lovingly at the books, but eventually walked away without putting anything in my cart.  I also spent $80 on groceries, which I think must be a new low-spend record for me at Costco.

I hope it is OK if I join mid-month!!

a. Who you are:  Mom of 2 girls. I teach ballet and work from home doing bookkeeping.  I am not making much income right now.

b. Where you are going (your financial goals): Right now we have some debt from moving and doing a reno that went over budget.  My husband makes about 4 times what I do and he thinks wants to spend it.  I want to save.  It is a bit of an issue.  If I bring up needing to cut back then he will just tell me to work more... which would mean not being home with my girls.  I deal with all our money.  Right now I would like to pay down our line of credit debt as soon as possible, as well as the $1000 on our credit card.  We have no other debt.  Well we do have maybe $1000 of student loan left but that might be done in a few months.  I want to try to see if it is possible to live off of just my husbands income for the most part.

c. How you plan to get there  Get rid of all unnecessary purchases (can't control my husband though).  Don't go over on my phone plan (although that has only happened once).  Meal plan and but things on sale - I think this will really save us a lot! Try and work more admin/ bookkeeping hours.

Hey friends, I am back on-line.   We made a big move internationally, got settled and figured out a cheap internet option.  The move went really well and we stuck to our spending budget beautifully.  The house we are in is decently furnished and we have not had to buy much to live here.  I was able to put almost all of our travel money back into our savings account, so that was a real treat.

I have dinner food for the next few days.  The kids are in school and eat lunch there.  I just need to pic up some milk for breakfasts and the rest of the week should be little to no spending.

Ruth, not a true no-spender.  More of a careful spender as my family of 5 moves internationally this month.

Jan 1 -- travel lunch

Jan 2 -- Household things for our old house

Jan 3 -- 2 straw bales

Jan 4 -- party supplies

Jan 5 -- moving day

Jan 6 -- moving day

Jan 7 -- Jan 16 -- off line

Jan 17 -- milk and apples
