Big spending today.  We met some new friends at the local pool and had lunch.  It was fabulous and fun and wonderful and I loved every minute, but it was really expensive.

1/09:  budgeted groceries, did most of them. problem was shopping with DH who found stuff he wanted to get. :( used the visa.

1/10:  - got some bills in the mail today, one is $40 less than I budgeted, the other I owe nothing when I budgeted $250. set my account to pay the bill automatically later this month.

1/12:  - figured out a way to cut back on milk so we don't go through $33/week worth (organic) JUST for the kids & DH's coffee. 

1/13:  - seriously considering buying a crib now instead of closer to when we'll need it. Bleh.

1/16:  Groceries. $199 - this puts us over our grocery 'budget' but we also stocked up on some things now that we have room to store them. I got a pack of Pull-Ups reg. $18.99, on for $9.99 - $2 coupon, Easy Ups ($9.99 - $3 coupon) and Snugglers for the new baby ($9.99 - $3 coupon) .. I'm pretty pleased. :)

1/18:  $50 at WM - stocked up on some things, shopped clearance for our April baby, and scored some $1 games for DH/DS

1/19: 

1/20:  got "paid" today. should be able to put a big chunk of $$ on the visas, just waiting for bills to come out tomorrow.

1/22:  did some groceries

1/22 groceries. I've made 3 "quick trips" to the store this week, totaling about $60.

1/24  $$$$ air duct/furnace cleaning. Hopefully our allergies will improve after years of dust and grime got sucked out of the house.

I am sure everyone is budgeting for house repairs. Just wanted to give a plug for it.Our furnace broke Friday when temps dropped to zero for the next few days.Tried to repair it,but alas I said *forget it* to troubleshooting any more on Monday,and had them install a new one.Heat never felt so good.It was 38 in my bedroom,and our warm santuary for the past 4 days was down to 53. TG for savings(I think we have some left),but would have put it on a credit card if needed!

Bit of a spending spree.  Ice skates for kids, potty for the toddler, exercise classes for me.  I knew there would be more costs to our move -- the kids go skating for gym class, so those were a school expense and the littlest member of our family has suddenly decided to be a big boy and use the toilet.  And I just really need to get some exercise or I will go bonkers in this cold, icy land.  The gym cut me a great deal since I was able to pay up front for 6 months.

26.    Sigh, a pretty big spend.  DH got caught on his commute home in the snowstorm.  Roads weren't being cleared, people panicking, after 7hrs in the car and having only gone less than 1/2 way home, he got a hotel room.  Of course, he got a hotel in Northern VA where Best Westerns and Sleep Inns don't exist and where ALL hotels were pretty much booked for the night b/c of the snow.  So, $220 later, he at least got a good night's sleep and didn't have to sleep in his car.

Thank goodness!   We have a general emergency fund that has saved us time and again when we have had issues with the house.  Having that safety net is a such a good feeling.  Enjoy the heat!

28.    WooHoo I made my No-Spend goal for the first time since starting these challenges.  Apparently the important piece for my family is not having a family vehicle to leave the house on the weekends.  That's the sure fire way to keep us out of the stores
