Wow, clutterwarrior, we're both getting close to the goal. I remember last year I didn't know if I had enough "stuff" to get rid of in order to make the goal, and I ended up surprising myself. Then I jumped back in this year, again unsure if I had enough "stuff", especially after decluttering last year, and I can already tell that I'm going to make the goal. It feels nice not to be so weighted by the past and to consciously choose/create the environment in which I spend the most time.

I have never doubted if I had enough stuff must admit. What I find amazing is that after doing this for two years running, I still have so much stuff!!  So I am going to be doing this for a while I think....

Which means I have had moments when I wonder if I am achieving anything. ..but recently I stumbled upon some photos I took of the house before I started decluttering, and I could see a huge difference in some areas of the house, especially my son's room. So I suppose I am getting there slowly and steadily..... orngbiggrin.gif

I stalled out there for a while, but it looks like both DH and I are picking up steam again...  It may not be enough to get to 2011, but we've made some awesome progress!

That was a good idea!  When I get frustrated with DH's reluctance to let anything go, I have to work hard to remember how bad the house was when I moved in.  (Fish tank growing algae, rather than fish... 3 broken phones and a set of screwdrivers in the pantry... fourteen-year-old frozen things in the freezer... etc.) I should have taken photos then!

I so agree! I didn't take photos, but I definitely see a major difference in our utility room. Plus, I have 2 closets cleared out that can actually be used now.

DH had a CD book with 98 CDs in it that he couldn't sell to local pawn shops or music stores because he no longer had the covers. I sold 30 CDs to a local music store (already counted) and had 95 left. DH put all those remaining on craigslist for $100 and they easily sold. joy.gifjoy.gif So altogether we made $140.25 for CDs that were just taking up space in a box for a couple years now. And now we can put the money towards an electric guitar for DH, so we'll still have music around. guitar.gif

193 CDs

1 CD Jacket/Book

1 Box

1544 + 195 = 1739/2011

Out with the recycle today:

2 bins of paper recycling

2 bags of decluttering trash from office

1 bag of plastic bags

34 magazines

New total: 542/2011

Slowly, but surely I'm progressing. I've got decently big piles of stuff to go various places, but I don't count them till they are OUT of my house and OUT of my car (for things I need to take somewhere)!! I will be tackling the bathroom as my next big project (as the office is an ongoing one that is never done, it seems)...so there will be quite a lot added to my list in the next week or so!!
