Yes, me too, please. We can barely move around here at the moment! I donated 4 garbage bags of clothing and other items the other day and I intend to keep the purging going for as long as possible. Right now it's easy -- there's so much extra around I can skim things off the top and donate them without feeling any pain. Stacks of papers. Broken toys. Outgrown clothing. Shoes that don't fit anyone.

But there are other items, in deeper strata, that may require some hand-holding for me to get rid of (a turn-of-the-last-century set of dishes, monogrammed with our family initial (but not actually family heirlooms; I thrifted them some 10 years ago) that we've never used, for example. Random wedding presents which have never suited us and have never been used or displayed. Etc.)

So, yes -- I'm in.

I'm in and will start on Saturday.

I'll share my rules for myself if anyone is interested.

I'll count most items separately because it will help my mentally to see my # grow. I am not going to count the items in my total until they are out the door. I may post what I've gathered to keep me accountable, but the # gets updated once they are gone.

I am in.  We just moved in Oct. 1 and with a new baby in the house I am still unpacking!!!... So this will be the perfect time for me to really go through things and purge!

Count me in!

I'm going to join as well. I think I joined the 2010 one (??) but then fell off my game. I am now DETERMINED to clear this mess out, esp. since we have a new LO coming in July and I can't handle having a third kid in this mess. I think my mental distress at all the crap is finally overwhelming my "keep it" mentality. LOL.

I'm going to start now, will try to list things to keep myself accountable but not add to my actual count until it leaves the house-I have a LOT of stuff I'm putting in a consignment sale in a few weeks which will be a big start. And then ocne we have the baby and know the gender we'll be able to get rid of a lot more of the saved baby clothes.

Gonna go get started RIGHT NOW!!

I have narrowed my goals for the New Year down to 3:

*make my home into a haven for my family

*regain control of my finances

*get healthy

This challenge will certainly help with the first one!

Finally washed out the 2 food grade buckets intended for the brown flour and oatmeal.  So one bag and one cardboard box decluttered, and 2 things put into their intended service.

I think I will count things similarly.  I like seeing numbers grow.  I don't think I will count personal papers and old bills individually but will for DS artwork.  It is harder to part with my DS art.

1-3 Old Furniture

4-5 Magazines

6-46 DS Artwork

I'm in! Stuff is overtaking my life. I'm going to start this weekend and ring n the new year in decluttering style!

I am in! We've moved 5 times in 3 years and I still have boxes that have never been unpacked since the first move when I got married! Everything is so disorganized after our last move it is ridiculous!

Hi, I'm a lurker mostly but I would love to join you guys. My husband and I are both motivated to declutter so it seems like a good idea to commit before we lose interest. We have 100+ items piled in our bedroom right now that just need to get moved out. I'm hoping to blog about it as well to keep me honest. Looking forward to it!

I'm in. I didn't join the 2010 thread because I thought I'd never have been able to get rid of that many things. But I did a lot of decluttering this year, and I think I may actually have reached that number after all. Now I want to keep the momentum going.

I have another question about the rules, I don't think I anyone else asked yet, but I may have missed it. Can repurposing items count? For example, we have tons and tons of old sheets (the house we live in belonged to dh's parents and it still has quite a lot of stuff that he family had in it- the major reason it needs to be decluttered!) and I'm using a couple of them to line curtains I'm making for my dd's room. Would that count as decluttering the two sheets?

pear-shaped I think if it is stopping those items from being clutter, then personally I don't see why you can't count them. (But I am not sure if there are 'rules' anywhere which I haven't seen)

I am in too....got so much thrown out this year that I definitely want to keep going!

Will start from tomorrow though, as it is New Years Eve tonight here and I want to make my official start during 2011.  jumpers.gif
