Ped wants us to give him augmentin because he just came off 10 days of amox and his ear is better but not perfect.  My lo has been green junky/cold/red ears for three weeks.   HowEVER I am very, very much against using an abx like that with its many destructive properties, especially when the reason is, "well I don't know if the cause is viral or bacterial, we don't culture ears, but his age says we treat for bacterial."    So I am exploring the non-augmentin options I have for trying to help knock out a sinus and/or ear infection.

I have a saline sprayer that I have been using to keep the flow going, orngbiggrin.gif and I had this idea to put a few drops of GSE in it to get a little medicine up there.  I know some people use it in a neti pot, but that is not going to work on my lo, of course.  Plus I have never heard of this before.

Maybe I am too dfelirious from lack of sleep right now to think straight, but it definitely seems like a good idea to me right now.  What do you think?
