Constipated 16 month old

She's still breastfed on demand, and drinks water frequently. I don't get it!

I've introduced watered down apple juice because of this(and now she really likes juice too) - it has helped a little, but I don't want to start a habit. It's been going on for 2 or 3 weeks now....for every normal looking poop, the next 2 or 3 she is barely able to push out. greensad.gif I feel so bad for her...should I go ahead and get a baby laxative? Any other suggestions? Thanks in advance!

I would try pear juice first.  Not watered down regular pear juice.  I buy organic Knudsen pear juice boxes  ( juice box novelty ;) )  They are gentler than prune  Give that a try first before a laxative    Fleets does make a glycerin suppository if you need that.   DS2 & 3 NEEDED pear juice a couple times a week to keep things moving.

DD (17 months old) gets constipated once in a while too, and I try to make sure that she eats lots of veggies when that happens. The other day she was constipated  at home with DH and I happened to be walking in the baby food aisle and I bought some prune sauce I guess you could call it (mashed up prunes). It was meant for 6 months old babies, and I never bought jarred baby food when she was little (made food at home), but I have always heard that prunes are good for constipation. That seemed to help...good luck...
