:( co-sleeping fall out of bed

My ds 5months fell out of bed last night, dh and I have been trying to figure out how it happened. Lucas is fine i stayed up for 3hrs just holding him in my arms watching him sleep to make sure, so i think he just got a fright. I must have been too tired to have been co-sleeping safely with him guilty.gif. Now I am scared to continue to sleep with him without making some drastic changes first. We have been full time co-sleeping since our eldest son was born 3yrs ago. I am so upset my wee babe fell out of bed!

Any advice would be wonderful!

I hate to admit this but at this point my little cosleeper fell off a few times and we started to put him in the middle.  We actually cosleep on two mattresses on the floor, no actual bed, so it wasn't much of a fall.  My other two both had one fall a piece as well but it was from other situations, one climbed out of his crib with the assistance of a stuffed animal and the other rolled off of my couch while I was changing her diaper.  I know it is very scary. I would suggest putting him in the middle (I could change my position instead of DS to breastfeed but I know not everyone can do that) or buying a bed rail.  This is exactly the point when our baby started to roll around so I am pretty sure your ds wiggled off the bed.

it was very scary indeed, a bedrail sounds like our best option, ds usually sleeps in the middle, dh is a very heavy sleeper  so we usually try to sleep as far from him  as possible. i think i will have Lucas nap in his crib from now on for my own piece of mind.

We bought a bed rail and that helped immensely with my peace of mind.

I do switch DS back and forth through the night for nursing since he is convinced he must be latched on all night. This means he is sometimes in the middle but sometimes on the outside. At least with the bed rail I know if he rolls he isn't going over the edge.
