Marathon or Regent safer for forward facing?

I'd like opinions please, and i'm in Canada by the way :)

3.5y.o DD is 36 lbs and in a 2006 Marathon, just turned it FF. My 5month old DD is 23 lbs in an infant bucket seat and needs a new seat immediately. I think i'll move her RF into the marathon and buy a new seat for my older DD, who really REALLY wants a new pink seat cover ;)

I'm choosing between a Regent or a 2nd Marathon.

So... both are 5 point, both have SIP, the RFing isn't too important since DD is 36lbs... i don't want to buy a more expensive seat just so she can get an extra 3-4 lbs of RFing since i could get either the marathon or regent for $100. I'm buying used, but i'm acquainted with  both the moms that the seats would come from and feel it is safe. both manufactured 2008.

Am i missing anything? Is there any reason to choose one over the other? She is tall, so maybe the regent is better?

OR i keep DD in her marathon and try to find something different to put my little one in? I don't know if she'll continue to grow quickly and hit 35lbs too soon....

Help please! thanks :)

I don't think the Regent is legal to use in Canada.

Right, the Regent isn't approved for use in Canada.

regent hand down.  My Ods is 4 and 46" tall and 37lbs and too big for his marathon.  My yds is 3 and 36 lbs 44" tall and doesnt have much room left.  They both also have regents and have tons of room.  hth

The Regent would be a fine choice in the US, but it's not an option in Canada.

The Nautilus or Frontier would be a great choice.

Yep.  Regent is a better choice but if neither seat is a Canadian seat, they're not an option.  Is the other one stickered for use in Canada?

Ok, I'm not in Canada and this is totally OT but you can't use a Regent in Canada?

If the Regent was legal to use, I'd use that one.  We love our Regent.

US residents must use seats that have been approved by the NHTSA.

Canadian residents must use seats that have been approved by Transport Canada.

The Britax Regent has not been approved by Transport Canada (this has nothing to do with the quality of the seat -- afaik, Britax did not choose to submit it for approval).  It is not legal for a Canadian resident to use a seat that has not been approved by Transport Canada.

Right, in the US, seats are tested separately for vehicle and FAA use; seats can be approved for one and not the other (Regent can't be used on a plane) but in Canada it's all the same--once it's approved for CMVSS, it's approved for aircraft.  However, the Regent is too wide to use on a plane, so they did not submit it for testing for CMVSS, as they knew it wouldn't pass the aircraft portion of the certification.
