5yo Daughter turning red? What is this?!

I can't find any explanation for this and dh has taken her to the hospital so I'm waiting for the call. Kinda freaking out a bit here.

We all have a mild cold. Dd1 was feeling nauseous this morning and wouldn't eat anything. Around noon she threw up clear liquid. She had a nap (only when sick) and when she woke up around 4pm she was back to normal. Dh noticed she was scratching her feet. I took off her socks and her feet were bright red, checked her hands, same thing. Dh sprayed some Benadryl on them and the itching went away. An hour later the red started creeping up her legs. It's fully red, no blotchiness, raised bits, spots nothing just red.

At 7 both legs and arms are now red and her back and chest have started. Other than being cold, she has no other complaints.

What could this be? She didn't eat anything before she turned red. She did help me undecorate the tree before I took it outside, but it hasn't bothered her any other time.

that flushing with chilliness and no other complaints sends me to niacin flush first (which can be really freaky!)  she didn't eat or drink anything before it happened?

I'm glad she's being checked out.  Keep us posted!

All she had up until that point was sips of water (from our drilled well) and her last drink was about an hour or so before we noticed the redness.

She just called from the waiting room. The nurse called them in while I was on the phone with her, so hopefully they won't be there all night.

Okay, the doc did some tests and she has a viral infection. He said some kids react that way to them. Told dh not to get her too hot or she'll just get more red.

The kids have had rashes before (5th and 6th disease) but this was just soooo weird. It looked like she had a full body sunburn and the way it moved up her body. Fuhreaky!
