Ring Sling Question

I am pg with #2 and have been looking at different carriers. With dd I used a bjorn (only one I knew about at the time). I didn't love it for many reasons but mostly because it was hard to get her out to feed her and she just wasn't comfortable in that position. Most of the time I would end up having her in my arms. I got pretty good at doing tasks one handed LOL. Anyway, this time I am aware of all of my options in carries.

I went and tired on carriers and am pretty sold on the ring sling. I tried on the SAKURA and really liked it a lot however, this is the only ring sling I have tried. I would like to check out a few others before I make the purchase. Can anyone recommend some other brands that they like or tell me why you love the SAKURA.

Thank you love.gif

I do really love my Sakura, but I mostly use it if I'm going to be wearing for a long time, walking around, DD is going to nap in it, etc. The gathered shoulder is great for long term support. Sakuras are known for this - support and comfort. But they aren't great for mobility, because the shoulder is so wide. Just something to think about.

I haven't tried one yet, but Sleeping Baby Productions is supposed to be amazing, and the shoulder is more structured and a bit narrower, so if you are going to need to be using the arm you're wearing the sling on, this might be a better bet.

Sleeping Baby Production also has a nice price point Sakura are pricey.

Thanks for the info on sleeping baby productions. I really liked the selection and prices! Does anyone have one of these slings? Are you able to nurse easily with baby still in the sling? One reason I liked the SAKURA is it seemed that it would work for that. Both slings look like they are the same design.

There are a number of design differences in the ring sling market, some are shoulders, padding around the edge (rails) of the sling,  and sometimes the tail which can be sewn closed. The padding and closed end styles are IMO the hardest to fit.  I think Sakura has a gathered shoulder, Sleeping Baby Productions is a pleated design.

Do you find it to be really comfortable? It is so important to me that I can wear it for long periods of time and feel comfortable. Thanks

I think you might find a local baby wearing group a good resource. Many offer lending libraries allowing you to try out carriers before you make a purchase. Many member bring their personal stashes you can touch and think about before making a financial commitment to one particular style type of carrier.

There are a number of baby wearing groups here in California.  I am a co-leader of the Orange County Baby Wearers I know we have a Sakura and a Sleeping Baby Production in our lending library.

We can be found at a href="http://groups.yahoo.com/group/OCBabywearers/join

http://www.facebook.com/#!/OCBabywearers

Here is a listing of the groups around the US I am not sure how up to date it is. http://www.granolababies.com/babywearing-groups/info_27.html

Many groups have yahoogroups and facebook pages. Give a shout out to the group nearest you. Mention what style of ring slings your interested in. If there is not one in the library you might find a member willing to bring theirs along for show and tell.

Hope this helps. Happy New Year!

It  is comfortable. Crazy comfortable. I would say that now that she is bigger (15 lbs) I do not use it much at all. I use my boba a ton. I bought the double linen and think that for the money I would have bought the single linen since I don't use so much now. I do occasionally use it in a hip hold and that is fine but at this weight I really need the double shoulder...

I have an SBP wrap conversion and it is really comfortable with my 16-pound baby and easy to adjust.
